Eric visiting

On Friday last week, my distant cousin (firmenning?) from New York City arrived in Longyearbyen. He spent a week here, and it was great fun to see him and get to know my relative from New York better! :)

Longyearbreen ice caves

We were a bit unlucky with the weather on Friday afternoon and Saturday. We were supposed to spend Saturday in Barentsburg, at a sports exchange between Longyearbyen (Svalbard Turn) and the Russians in Barentsburg, but it was cancelled due to the bad weather (it's a two hour scooter trip). So we did a trip to the ice caves in Longyearbreen instead, with Doro and her visiting friend Nina. The ice caves are actually long crevasses in the glacier ice, which appear as tunnels, and may extend for several kilometers.
